My name is Robert aka JR aka JRob. In March 2017 My mother and I will be doing a complete North Bound AT thru-hike (Springer Mt in Georgia to Mt. Katahdin in Mtaine). She is a beginner and I would say I'm an intermediate hiker however neither of us has done any long distance hiking. My mother who has been a huge inspiration in my life has Multiple Sclerosis. She was almost wheel chair bound, had no energy to do daily life functions and couldn't live the life she wanted. Being outdoors in the woods, quilting and Jesus are the things that she is most passionate about. After struggling with this disease and not having much hope things would get better, she decided to make a change. She moved to Florida. With the medicine, persistance, exercise, and perseverance she took back control of her life. She walks 1-4 miles a day now, goes to the gym regularly and all the vacations that she takes revolves around hiking. Her dream has been to hike the AT so she decided to join me last minute and go for it. If we can put the determination into completing the hike that she has put into getting her life back, I know we will finish. Hopefully we can help raise some money and get the word out that MS doesn't have to be life ending. Thanks for reading and donating to a cause that even just spreading awareness can be life changing.
