I am a 48 year old outdoorsy person who just wants to have an "Epic Adventure." As a cancer survivor, I know that life is too short, and that we need to live life to the fullest while we are here. To experience my life to the fullest, I want to hike the Appalachian Trail.
There are many reasons why I want to hike the AT. I want to meet like minded people. I want to participate in the wonderful AT trail culture, such as earning my trail name and experiencing trail magic. Next, I want to experience the outdoors in an area that I am unfamiliar with. I want to see new vistas, learn to identify new plants, and trees. I want to see new wildlife. Finally, I want to challenge myself physically and mentally like never before. But, I don't just want to do it for my own selfish reasons, I also want to give something back to society too. I obviously chose the American Cancer Society as my charity because I've experienced the miracle that cancer research can provide. Also, I want to bring awareness of the risks of Melanoma while on my hike.
Please donate to my cause so that other people may experience the miracle of cancer research as I have. You will be able to follow the hike on YouTube. Just go to the Star Mountain Outdoors and Bushcraft channel. There, I will Vlog my trials and tribulations on the trail, and I will share in the natural beauty and adventure that I find along the way. Come join me! less
